You may not know that, ISRO was the world’s first space agency to find water on the moon surface. Along with this, ISRO was first space agency that reach mars on his First attempt. Their are many major achievements of ISRO which are unforgettable and unbelievable.
TOP 5 FAILED MISSIONS OF ISRO
1. SROSS-1
The SROSS stand for Stretched Rohini Satellite Series, it is first satellite of this series flown on ASLV vehicle on 24 March, 1987. ISRO may use this satellite for Earth remote sensing, and upper atmospheric monitoring.
But this satellite failed to reach in Earth orbit. The weight of this satellite is around 150 Kg.
2. GSLV-F02
The Geosynchronous satellite launch Vehicle-F02 with ISAT-4C on board, was launched by ISRO on 10 July, 2006 at 5:38 p.m. This is communicational base satellite.
But GSLV-F02 failed to complete the mission, it went out of control after liftoff and destroyed in air. The reason of this failure could stem from an error in manufacturing.
3. PSLV-C39
The PSLV-C39 stands for Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle. It is 41st flight of the PSLV launch vehicles series that is launched on 31 August 2017. It is used for deployment of IRNSS-1H satellite into sub-GTO.
But the PSLV-C39 vehicle suffered a rare issue that vehicle heat shield failed to separate payload and the payload is trapped inside the heat shield and the satellite could not launch.
4. EOS-03 SATELLITE
Recently: The EOS-03 satellite is new Earth observation satellite of India launched on 12 August 2021 from Satish Dhawan Space Center, Sriharikota at 5:43 a.m. This satellite is launched from Geosynchronous satellite launch vehicle (GSLV). This satellite helps to keep eye on natural disasters, climatic conditions and forestry and agriculture regions in India.
But the rocket that carrying EOS-03 satellite suffered a catastrophic failure shortly after launching from Satish Dhawan Space Center.
5. CHANDRAYAAN-2
Chandrayaan 2 is a lunar mission launched by ISRO on 22 July, 2019 from Satish Dhawan Space Center, Sriharikota to explore the south pole of the Moon. The goal of this mission to study of lunar topography, mineralogy, elemental abundance and find the presence of water molecules (H2O) and hydroxyl (OH) on the Moon surface. On 20 August, 2019 Chandrayaan 2 was successfully inserted into Moon Orbit.
But on 7 September when Vikram Lander tries to land on Moon Surface, a last minute software glitch led to be the failure of Chandrayaan 2 mission. Because Vikram lander crash landed on moon surface. This is one of the huge loss of ISRO.
However the orbiter of Chandrayaan 2 is still in working condition. Recently Chandrayaan 2 orbiter detects water molecules on lunar surface.
